Concert

Denali String Quartet,   Sunday, April 20

Old meets new to dramatic effect with quartets by Haydn and Debussy, and featuring Steve Reich’s "Different Trains”, a unique work for quartet and electronic recording. suggested concert admission donation at the door:

$25 family; $10 adult; $5 student/child/senior

The event begins with a wine reception and introduction at 5:00 p.m.

Outreach

Conejo Valley Free Meal Program - On the second Tuesday evening of every month, this month Tuesday, April  8, members of Epiphany prepare and serve dinner to those who are homeless or of very low income in our community.  For info or to sign up, contact Mary Lehr (818.707.6944).

Habitat for Humanity

Our Habitat for Humanity project is on the go!  All folks sixteen years and older are invited to come on out to the Simi Valley site and lend a hand.  At this time, the dates scheduled for an Epiphany team to pitch in, continues Saturday, April 12.  Please contact Tim Halligan, 805-379-9589, to sign up. 

Work on the home proceeds every Wed., Fri., and Saturday from 8 to 4.  Volunteer opportunities are available for any of these days by registering at the habitatventura.org web site.

 Formation

 Does the Bible really say THAT?

Wednesdays April 30, May 7, 14, 21, and 28 from 7:30-9:00 p.m.

Please join us for this 5-week series, taught by the Rev. Melissa McCarthy, in which we will explore the Bible, introduce you to major Biblical themes and characters, learn historical information about how the Bible came to be, as well as gain helpful techniques for reading the Bible on your own.  Designed for anyone who is interested in learning and especially for those who know absolutely nothing about the Bible, this series will be relaxed, informative, and non-threatening!  Please contact the church office for more information.

The Sunday evening theological discussion group meets TONIGHT from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. We are reading Catherine Keller's On the Mystery: Discerning Divinity in Process.

Join us in the chapel for prayer, scripture and meditation on Mondays at 6:30 p.m.  Please call the church office for more information.

The regular Tuesday evening Bible study Tuesdays from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. at Catherine Polley’s home. For more information, contact the church office.  All are welcome!

School: resumes next week at 9:45 a.m.  The children are in church today for the special Rite 13 service.  Check in with Karen James, Director, for information and to sign-up. 

Vacation Bible School is June 23 – 27.  Interested in being involved or finding out about the program?  Check with Karen James after church.  No previous experience necessary.

Other Ongoing Happenings

 "Loose Ends" -- the knitting, crocheting, needleworking, eating and talking group -- meets on the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month.  Next meeting is April 17.  We meet from 9:30 to 11:30 in Room 1.  Questions?  Contact Anna Milliken (310 4573162/jamilliken@mac.com.

 OWLs (Older, Wiser Laity) will meet this Thursday, April 10 for lunch and a special program on dermatology, skin cancer and Mohs surgery by noted dermatologist, Ron Moy, M.D. at 12 noon in the Bishop’s Hall. RSVPs a must.
